Rigoletto Residential Complex

Markus Kuntscher, Ulrike Wietzorrek

Description

Access:

Covered passageway with connection to greenery; external access gallery; exterior stairwell.

Interior space:

The rooms of the apartments where more time is spent face west, while the kitchen and bathroom are adjacent to the external access gallery. The deeper apartments in the middle of the gallery have bathrooms located in the interior. The units are partitioned according to the wishes of the residents. Some of the kitchens are open with respect to the dining/living areas behind them.

Exterior space:

Private balconies and garden terraces on the west side; optional additional balconies on the east side as an extension of the access gallery; communal roof terrace.

Morphology:

The east side of the building borders on the street and a small neighborhood square. The continuous steel frame of the access gallery in front of the building volume characterizes this lively facade with stairs and balcony platforms that hang from its construction. At the same time, this steel frame has climbing vines to provide greenery for the facade. The perforated facade on the west side, facing the greenery, has slightly projecting individual balconies in front that create a rhythm.
